Protein is comprised of twenty three different amino-acid combined with Nitrogen and are essential for human and animal existence. They cannot be manufactured by the body but are created through digestion. There are Proteins found in animal based foodstuffs such as meats, poultry, seafood, pork, eggs, milk and cheese and Proteins from many other non animal sources such as seeds, nuts peas,grain and beans. Mixing the two in a diet provides better nutrition than either one alone. Contrary to general belief Proteins and Carbohydrates have the same gram for gram Calorific count of 4 and so there should be no difference for dieters to choose from. Everyone’s daily intake of Protein differs as this depends on age, weight and health but the older we are the less should be our daily intake. Bearing this in mind it can be said that an average daily Protein intake can be about 45 grams.
