JOHN’S BIRTHDAY

Did you know that you were, with your loved one found,
Thrown in at the deep end with Masons all around?
And then, what followed, I’ll be bound
You sometimes wondered why you never drowned.
There were car journeys where the turnings were all wrong,
And the discord of a poor sung song.
With arguments endlessly without hush, on
Subjects they sought to pass off as discussion.

There was logic that was weak
And views about – best not speak,
There were songs with someone always off key
And nowhere to where one could flee
But, the over-arching consolation – see!
You courted and won your treasure – Julie.
