\nAnd when the crowds have moved away

\nWho will court their siren song
\nAnd play for the laurel crown
\nThat seals ephemeral renown.
\nBut the one who plays for love
\nOf the game and the team he is in
\nInspires his mates from above
\nAnd honours the glory within,
\nWhile respecting the facing team
\nAs he strives to impose his stamp
\nWith a skill and a force that is clean,
\nHe really is the champ.
\nThere is not a day goes by
\nWhen some fall from the heights aspired
\nBut the will to do as you try
\nBrings you back to the effort required;
