A poem’s called for in the month of September;
\nNow if you give me a minute I’ll remember
\nWhat the occasion is all about –
\nYes, now I recall without a doubt,
\nSeventeen years ago on this very day
\nHer Mum put Madeleine on display
\nAnd there were no ‘ifs’ and ‘buts’ – or maybe
\nShe was the finest Millennium baby.
\nWith gifts and attributes galore
\nMadeleine has what it takes and more.
\nBut seventeen years is a mere interlude
\nIn showing the World your aptitude,
\nAnd as time passes like egg-timer sand
\nYou will learn more to understand
\nThat the future beckons and it’s bright
\nAs you tackle life with all your might.
\nPlay to your strengths, turn your back on trends
\nWhere imitation starts talent ends.
\nSo as birthdays come and go
\nMadeleine’s great Millennium show
\nWill bring with it love, health and happiness
\nAs fortune’s benisons are there to bless.
\nAnd loved ones gather round this day
\nTo launch our Madeleine on her way
