Restless figures hurry by

\nFor Christmas is to occupy
\nThe ruthless pursuit of goodwill.<\/p>\n
Carol singers, lights and Santa Claus
\nCompete to commercialise the fun,
\nAnd there is scarcely time to pause
\nFrom routines programmed in one.<\/p>\n
The planning that goes into all the chores
\nNetworked amongst a dwindling family group
\nThat relish what at other times are bores,
\nTo stop tradition escaping from the loop.<\/p>\n
A direct line back to memories
\nKeeping true to past times,
\nThe very thought of it decrees
\nSnowflakes, robins and bell chimes.<\/p>\n
