There is a road that leads you onwards
\nIn the journey of your life
\nAnd you’ll find that if you stay on it,
\nFollowing faithfully the signs,
\nIt will take you in a circle
\nTo the source where you began,
\nAnd all the ills you suffered
\nAnd all the wrongs you did
\nCan be seen anew as to what they were
\nIn this place of second chances.<\/p>\n
The catharsis of forgiving or forgiveness received,
\nPurged of accumulated guilt
\nIs like a self-administered Eucharist
\nBringing you full understanding
\nAnd a new born harmony
\nWhere your hands can join with childrens’ hands.<\/p>\n
When the strange values of the World
\nCrashed into your puny defences
\nSwamping, seemingly forever,
\nThose careful, precious dreams
\nYou were building up
\nYou learned to play the new games,
\nDenying all knowledge of a deeper self
\nBecause you could see that everyone else
\nWas doing the same thing
\nAnd it seemed at the time
\nTo be the only way to go.<\/p>\n
But can you see now
\nThat even if it was inevitable
\nIt distorted what you wanted to be
\nAnd suppressed so much that coming to terms
\nWith a loss without a compensating gain
\nBrought with it in the irresistible flood
\nAll those new feelings of the future,
\nDrowning those intensely sweet moments
\nOf the focused here and now?<\/p>\n
You wanted to give them so little
\nbecause they claimed so much
\nUntil they pointed out in their arrogance
\nThat it was only a cover for their insecurity
\nAnd then you gave them all you had.<\/p>\n
If the runes are spread too wide
\nThe nit-pickers move in
\nTalking of aerie-faerie waffle,
\nAnd if too narrow, the visionaries
\ndismissively speak of strait-jacket thinking.
\nJust where is that place that can unite
\nThe World with its sub-atomic units –
\nThe outward looking with the inward looking?
\nAdopting positions in a life
\nWhere all is relative, illusory and limited
\nIs to have your nose rubbed into the philosophy of others.<\/p>\n
But memories creep back
\nLike patriot spies\u00a0 through enemy lines
\nTo alert you to the dangers all around.
\nAt some point along the road of your new life
\nYou will see the possibility of a second chance,
\nAnd if you look closely enough
\nYou will see that it was always there,
\nThough the old life sought to deny this
\nBy distracting you with worldly matters.<\/p>\n
Whenever this chance appears to you
\nAlong the road, seize it –
\nEven though it promises nothing,
\nAnd escaping from the falseness
\nOf your position will bring upon your head
\nCalumny and reviling scorn
\nFrom your fellow travellers;
\nSeize it, seize it, my friend
\nBecause it is the journey back
\nTo the source of your being,
\nThe way to understanding and release.<\/p>\n
The World could not have been forsworn
\nAt the tender age\u00a0 when you were beckoned in,
\nAnd all the senseless stupidities you underwent
\nThe pain you have suffered and inflicted
\nThrough a disjointed awareness
\nThat you are using wasted time;
\nAnd how the pain sprang back
\nTo torment you\u00a0 – this is the arid, futile
\nGame of life played out
\nAs you ally yourself with people power
\nTo protect you in the pointless struggle,
\nAll the time harbouring deep within you
\nThe awareness that things do not really
\nHave to be like this.<\/p>\n
You can free yourself of your burden
\nbecoming light and joyful,
\nNo longer diminished by the indifference of Man,
\nReturning to an age of innocence
\nThat was lost and now is found
\nWhere, to the pure all is pure
\nAnd savour to the full the lovliness of life.<\/p>\n
