Do you agree with me
\nThat things are not what they seem to be?
\nDo ants
\nHave temperaments?
\nDo moles
\nHave souls?
\nCan other creatures pray?
\nIf we can, why not they?<\/p>\n
We see points of view
\nThrough the one human prism –
\nCannot other species too
\nHave a place without derism?<\/p>\n
Does God need our praise?
\nShould we ask to remain unchanged?
\nOr should we aim to raise
\nThe level of understanding about us ranged?<\/p>\n
Are we getting any nearer
\nTo nudging self-knowledge along?
\nDoes the truth appear clearer
\nOr is the way we are on wrong?<\/p>\n
We like to think we are right
\nWithout ever even a mention
\nOf the possibility the alternative might
\nPuncture a posturing parrot’s pretension.<\/p>\n
There can be a million different raindrops
\nReflecting the earth, water and sky –
\nThe formation of river, lake and sea stops
\nShort, until those raindrops unify.<\/p>\n
Our millions of individual minds
\nReflect the fragmentation of mankind
\nWhich, when the raindrops united, finds
\nA merging to the universal mind.<\/p>\n
And there it is, a concept out of range,
\nA dream that we shall never realise.
\nA hope that helps to make this world less strange,
\nTo long pursue, until the echo dies.<\/p>\n
