\nThat our neighbours’ weaknesses
\nAre ours no less than his.<\/p>\n
But I can’t see things like that at all;
\nThe family irritates me, gets up my nose;
\nDon’t understand, don’t even try to.
\nSo there are rows, and that makes life worse
\nBecause you feel there could be something more
\nSomething just below the surface
\nWaiting to be touched, or to touch
\nThat awful emptiness that doesn’t go away.
\nThere are times that I want to love them,
\nBut they criticise and shout,
\nAnd so when they try to make it up
\nI just play tough and turn about.
\nThis ‘intercourse with others’ lark
\nAre only words to make you do
\nWhat you wouldn’t want to do if left alone.
\nOf course you do have chums
\nAnd I dream sometimes of how life really might have been;
\nIt’s a nice feeling until someone comes along
\nAnd starts talking.It’s always a grown up
\nWho spoil things. They can’t leave anyone alone.
\nThey want to know things, or pretend they do
\nAnd then shove off abruptly
\n‘Must go now.’ Bye for now.’

\nThey wouldn’t own up to weaknesses
\nNor want to discuss mine
\nOr anyone else’s as such.
\nI\u00a0 don’t know what weaknesses are anyway,
\nBecause no one comes out with it straight.
\nEverything is so fuzzy
\nAnd what one thinks is alright
\nSomeone else is all against.
\n‘Wake up.’ They say. ‘You’re dreaming again.’
\n‘Girls, I bet.’ And give a knowing stare.
\nBut I don’t know anything about girls;
