WHAT TO BELIEVE

Pieces of us, yes us
Were cosmic dust
Millennia ago
Until a unicellular scrap
In a carbon wrap
Changed forever what we know.
What followed were sentient creatures
From a chemical formula made. A trend
That led to a content with features
With a form that has no end;
A developed belief function that can make things true
But encased in so many points of view,
More than can be confined
In one sentient creature’s mind.

So all I can do is to stick with one
That the beautiful thoughts I have of you
Are real, enduring and ever true.
And what the cosmic dust has changed
When stirred into the great above,
The linking of earth and heaven arranged
By mingling, to create an eternal love.
A formula that time will test
To validate, or not, our celestial rest.
