When we welcomed you in nineteen eighty one,
Caroline’s friend, soon friend to all become,
And bringing Spanish sun to England’s wealth of greens
Took back, we hope, a sense of all this means,
Of friendship and goodwill transcending border lines
With many happy memories that each in turn defines
The hope that you enjoyed your stay as much as we,
We bid you God speed back to Spain
Until we all shall meet again
When you return once more across the sea,
