When we act collectively
We sacrifice some of our humanity.

When we see only ‘me.’
Ignoring collectivity
We surrender our responsibility.

So pause….

Knowing this, how can it be
We are able to defend our liberty?

We need to fight for liberty each day
To earn the necessary grain of grace;
Without this fight there is no other way
To keep from stamping on your brothers’ face.

Come wars….

And when the fear to harm
Is tipped the other way,
With violence there to charm,
What can a moralist say?
