Here together
In safe keeping
With the wide world
Softly sleeping.
Head on shoulder
Engine purring
Nature’s ardour
Barely breathing.
In the twilight
Of the evening
Lights on hedgerows
Weirdly weaving.
The moon goes in
Shadows darken,
Across the plain
Hunters hearken.
Dark villages
We pass racing
As time sets its
Peaceful pacing.
From the south-west
Dreams abating
To the real world
Wanly waiting.
On to London
Let us hurry,
Cannot stop now,
Sorry Surrey.
