Take a good look at the World as you enter
Fear not emotions but check with the brain,
Never stray so far from the centre
That you can’t get back again.
Whatever you may think of yourself
The World will have its say,
And though you may wish to stay on the shelf
Fate will have its way.
Sometimes you should race along
With the World tucked under your arm;
A triumphant winner, noble and strong
True to your own lucky charm
Feeling a little glow of life
having lived for one more day,
A thousand years of futile strife
Will not sweep that glow away.
The inner tensions in one can
Compete as if a thing apart
Across the generation span
To heal an aching heart.
Fulfilling what there has to be,
Rejoicing in simplicity
Seeing God’s way in harmony
With peace for thee and me.
